We waited about 15 minutes for a table that was open and we could clearly see was open, that was odd. The food was AMAZING. The marinara is very good, the fried mozzarella was good, the fried ravioli was very good. The Stromboli though, AMAZING!!!!! It was massive and so tasty! I'd definitely go back just for that and share it with someone. The service wasn't great, we had 3 different people helping us, again, odd. But I had fun with my friends and the food was amazing!
Oh the bread they give you before the meal, ordinary... and why give us butter in littler plastic packages? They should really give oil and herbs like most Italian restaurants. Very average.
Fantastic pasta and pizza in a cozy restaurant with excellent service! Definitely one of the top three places in the city for delicious Italian food! I will definitely be back to try more of it. We went to try the tiramisu as well but unfortunately it was out on our visit, so if that’s what you are going for you might check ahead!
Walking in I was impressed with the atmosphere....Reminded me of the kind of place you find in Little Italy NYC. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday evening and there were a lot of people picking up to go so it is definitely a popular spot. The waiter was attentive and took our order promptly. We decided on a pizza with pepperoni and some veggies. It took about 30 minutes for the pizza to arrive at our table. It was piping hot, looked and smelled delicious. The toppings and the cheese were first rate. The big disappointment was the crust. It was mostly soft and very gummy except the outer edge. I can only imagine how bad it would have been if we had not dined in. Being totally honest I have had Pizza with better crust from Little Caesars hot and ready box. We might try this place again but would definitely try another entree.
I have to say this first.... I had no idea there were lunch and dinner hours. We literally got there when they were about to close lunch with like 5mins to spare, they could of refused us but they didn't and served us still with best service... ever!
Now that's a restaurant that takes pride in their establishment because they could of said, "Sorry, we're closed and locked the door OR rushed the meal and they didn't." *Amazing 🤩
Now we understood, so we ordered quickly and paid so they could close the register it was for my cousins birthday and drove across town just for their pizza (you have to try them, if you haven't) it's worth the drive if you aren't in the Broadway area. I've been eating there for over 10 years when I can. The best pizza, in my opinion and great Italian dishes, but they do separate hours and close, so make sure to Google their hours before you go. The atmosphere is totally "Rustic Italian" with dim lighting and leather seating yet comfortable.
The staff was super kind and helpful. I've never had a complaint or been mistreated. I need to eat there more often 😋 Check it out, you'll love it. They also have a wine list.
My husband and I spent our 15th anniversary here. Everything was wonderful from the wine, food, and service.
Our family had a very nice evening out to this restaurant. Our waiter and host were very nice. Everyone loved their food! The pizza was great and the lasagna was amazing! They start you with bread (no oils) and butter. There is some outdoor seating and the indoor dining has great ambiance (although I thought the poles looked a little more candy cane-like). We had an excellent dining experience and plan to return to try more items on the menu. Great spot.
A legit Italian experience has been hard to come by in the city until we stumbled across Sorrento. The interior is a bit on the smaller side with a nice vibe and cozy setting.
We chose to skip the appetizers and went straight for the entrees. The alfredo, lasagna Della casa, carbonara and the alio e olio were our picks. The alfredo was perfectly al dente, with not an overabundance of sauce. There was basil inside the dish, which was unexpected and some would say unauthentic but it actually complimented the dish.
The lasagna was well presented and quite tasty, I'm not a huge fan of the dish normally, but I welcome it here. The tomato sauce was the star. Next, was the alio e olio. It was great, once again, perfectly al dente pasta with olive oil, pepper and roasted garlic slices.
Lastly, we tried the carbonara. This restaurant uses bacon inside the dish, when it traditionally uses pancetta/guanciale. There is also only parmesan cheese used instead of pecorino cheese. This is another dish that can be very controversial to some, but it is done well here. It was creamy and had a good flavor and the bacon wasn't overbearing. Yes, I would of preferred a different protein other than the bacon, but this is likely the best substitute for the restaurant.
Overall, a great experience and the portion sizes are perfect for the price. We didn't even have room for dessert! It's always admirable when locals have some skin in the restaurant game and do it well. If you are a fan of pasta and Italian cuisine, I highly recommend you give them a go.
4.7/5
Place was busy for a Wed, a good sign. Italian places are a hit or miss with pasta but this place is worth checking it out. On the smaller side but nice restaurant. Always go for the fried calamari, good size and flavoring and not gummy. Got the trio of pasta sauce and meatballs. Meatballs the best part. Will walk extra full with the portions that they serve.
